Although a few months ago the definitive closure of the Glaciar Exploradores sector had been announced because the entry of visitors could cause irreversible damage to the ecosystem, this month its reopening was announced. Thus, tourists along with their respective guides will once again be able to access this impressive attraction located in the Laguna San Rafael national park, under some conditions and protocols that must be strictly followed.

Las condiciones para ingresar a Glaciar Exploradores

Since February 2, Conaf authorized trekking activity on the Exploradores Glacier, a huge body of ice belonging to the Northern Ice Fields. It is, without a doubt, one of the main tourist attractions in Aysén and it was closed to the public for a couple of months.

To enjoy the ice trekking experience, visitors must respect some conditions:

1️⃣ Be at least 18 years old.

2️⃣ Entry will be allowed between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., and departure must take place before 4:00 p.m.

3️⃣ The guides will be responsible for having the equipment in good condition.

4️⃣ Upon entering, you must sign a responsibility form.

5️⃣ Guides must use VHF radio equipment and communicate with rangers every 30 minutes.

6️⃣ It is the obligation of the guides to show the tracking of the route at the departure of their groups, according to the information provided by the GPS they carry.

Without a doubt, very good news for visitors, for operators and for the Aysén region. But, explore this beautiful place taking care of and respecting nature as much as possible! Never leave a mark.

NOTE: Until the publication of this entry, AysenJourneys has not resumed the Ice Trekking activity in Glaciar Exploradores as part of its programs, until further notice. We will be informing you in a timely manner.
